Longer Journeys

Each leg of the journey spans a longer distance than ever before, meaning the competitors are tested at an unparalleled level. Utilizing the diverse topography of Alaska, the routes will test the explorers on land, ice and water — challenging their ingenuity and endurance.

Bigger Obstacles

This season will see competitors take on the biggest mountains, tallest ice walls and longest rivers. Scenes will delve deeper into the detail and process involved in surmounting these seemingly-impossible obstacles as our explorers employ innovative techniques and expertise gleaned from their diverse backgrounds.

Fewer Supplies

Competitors start with fewer supplies than in previous seasons, meaning they must rely more on their survival ingenuity. The first episode of the season starts with a race to a cache to pick out survival items for use during the entire adventure.

Episodes feature deeper dives into Alaskan culture and history. From the colorful traditions of the native Inuit, to the historic Gold Rush of the 1800’s, to modern-day homesteaders, Alaska’s rich heritage will be woven into every episode.

Farther Off-Grid

The journey will venture into rarely-explored corners of the Last Frontier — from the frigid North Slope in the heart of the Arctic down to the glacier-filled, remote sounds and inlets of Southeast Alaska.
